In Conversation with the Founder

Clarín, Argentina's largest newspaper, asked the founder of Castle Events for an interview. Twelve questions, from the first idea to the secret of its success. Here are his answers in full.
When and why did Castle Events begin?
CastleEvents started in Switzerland, more than twenty years ago. I had explored quite a bit of the nightlife and party world myself, but never from the business side. Organizing events was never the plan. What pushed me there in the end was more of an inner calling. The kind of place I had in mind simply didn't exist, so at some point I had to create it myself.
I was a teenager when I first visited Versailles in the 80s. What stayed with me wasn't the official history. It was the question of what really went on behind those walls. The mistresses, the intrigues, the things people whispered about. Casanova's memoirs also stayed with me. They opened up the Venice of the 18th century, a world of masked balls and that particular kind of freedom you only get behind a mask. And of course the Swiss carnival traditions, where I could see for myself how a mask changes people. How women in particular open up once they're anonymous.
The kind of place I had in mind simply didn't exist, so I had to create it myself.
These visions stayed with me for years: castle balls, a world of feelings, fantasies and sensuality. Eventually the idea wouldn't let me go. Everyday life, shaped by stress, anonymity, arrogance, envy and superficiality, has become barely bearable for many. What is missing is variety, ease, a world of emotion, passion and sensuality. That is exactly where my idea began: to create a world far removed from ordinary norms. A world where women can feel like queens, celebrating their femininity anonymously through beautiful gowns, fine lingerie and elegant heels. And where the men bring the same level of elegance, respect and sophistication, so that both can completely let go and step outside ordinary life for one extraordinary evening.
That's what CastleEvents is. An evening among the best company, held together by a quiet complicity that stays with you long after the masks come off.
What are these events like?
They're not really parties in the usual sense. More like stepping into another world for a night, in places you wouldn't expect. Historic castles, castle hotels. But yes, also real parties. People come to dance, to celebrate, to have a good time.
The evening usually starts formal. Dinner, conversation, live music, with shows during dinner. Then comes the Ceremony, and from there the castle opens up. One room has the DJs going until well past sunrise. Another is the bar, champagne, cocktails. In another part of the building the atmosphere turns more sensual. Couples drift between them or just retreat to their own room when they feel like it. Nothing is pushed on anyone. In the end it's about fantasy, real connection, and letting yourself enjoy life in good company.
